Systems and methods for providing timeline of content items on a user interface

A system comprising:

• control circuitry configured to:
• generate for display a first content item on a user device that is associated with a user profile;
• and
• a memory, wherein a user pattern data corresponding to the user profile is stored in the memory;
• and
• the control circuitry is further configured to:
• access the user pattern data, wherein the user pattern data is indicative of user consumption history of controlling playing of one or more content items or navigating between one or more content items;
• identify, based at least in part on the user pattern data, a second content item;
• using metadata of the second content item and the user pattern data as inputs, identify respective confidence scores for a plurality of segments of the second content item;
• select a subset of segments of the plurality of segments of the second content item based on the respective confidence scores;
• generate for simultaneously display with the display of the first content item:
• a first timeline for the first content item;
• and
• a second timeline for the second content, wherein the second timeline:
• (a) comprises, for each of the subset of segments, a respective user-selectable option to play the second content item at one of the subset of segments, and
• (b) does not comprise user-selectable options for segments of the second content item that are not in the selected subset of segments.
