A method for congruently aligning an axis of rotation of a spindle of a rotary laser with a laser axis of a laser beam generated by a laser diode of a laser unit of the rotary laser, wherein the rotary laser has a drive unit with a stator and a rotor, wherein the stator has a carrier tube in which the spindle is rotatably mounted and in which a laser diode holder associated with the laser diode is arranged, and wherein an installation-related tilt and/or lateral offset of the laser diode holder in the carrier tube causes a tilt and/or lateral offset of the laser axis of the laser beam relative to the axis of rotation of the spindle, the method comprising:
- measuring the laser axis to determine any tilt and/or lateral offset of the laser axis relative to the axis of rotation, and
- if there is a tilt and/or a lateral offset of the laser axis relative to the axis of rotation, performing an adjustment turning of at least one surface associated with the carrier tube to compensate for the existing tilt and/or lateral offset, thereby achieving congruent alignment of the laser axis with the axis of rotation.
