Abstract
Systems and methods are provided for planar-printed antenna arrays that have balanced inputs (e.g., excitation pairs) that can directly mate with differential outputs on system electronics. The apertures can be produced with solder/signal pads in lieu of commercial connectors for pick-and-place, no touch labor integration of antenna apertures with panel electronics using Ball Grid Array (BGA) technology.
Claims20
An antenna, comprising:
- a first via coupled to a first signal interconnect;
- a first planar printed impedance transformer coupled to the first via at a first position;
- a second planar printed impedance transformer coupled to the first via at a second position, wherein the second position is higher than the first position;
- and
- a first radiator coupled to the first via.

An antenna, comprising:
- a first radiator, comprising:
- a first via coupled to a first signal interconnect,
- a first planar printed impedance transformer coupled to the first via at a first position,
- a second planar printed impedance transformer coupled to the first via at a second position, wherein the second position is higher than the first position, and
- a first printed radiator coupled to the first via;
- and
- a second radiator, wherein the second radiator is orthogonal to the first radiator.
