Dynamic user verification detection based on audio output data during playback

An apparatus configured to process audio data, the apparatus comprising:

• one or more memories configured to store the audio data;
• and
• one or more processors coupled to the one or more memories, the one or more processors being configured to:
• determine that an audio playback path of a device is currently enabled, wherein the audio playback path includes a speaker configured to output sound from the audio playback path;
• detect an audio sample obtained using a microphone included in the device while the audio playback path is enabled, the audio sample including a user voice signal and an echo signal corresponding to the output sound from the audio playback path;
• determine audio information comprising at least one of a current volume level associated with the audio playback path, or echo cancellation information associated with an echo cancellation engine configured to process the audio sample;
• determine a verification threshold value for voice-based verification of the user voice signal, wherein the verification threshold value is based on the audio information;
• and
• generate a user verification result based on a comparison between the verification threshold value and a confidence score determined based on the audio sample.
