Database system with computing node level dual operating systems

A database system comprises:

• plurality of computing device clusters including pluralities of computing devices, wherein a first computing device cluster of the plurality of computing device clusters includes a first plurality of computing devices of the pluralities of computing devices, wherein the pluralities of computing devices includes pluralities of computing nodes, wherein a first computing device of the plurality of computing devices includes a first plurality of computing nodes of the pluralities of computing nodes, and wherein a first computing node of the first plurality of computing nodes includes:
• a hardware layer including:
• a non-volatile memory unit;
• a main memory;
• a network connection unit;
• and
• a central processing module operably coupled to the non-volatile memory module,
• the main memory, and the network connection unit;
• and
• a software layer including:
• a computing device operating system;
• a database operating system;
• and
• a control unit operable to:
• for each of the non-volatile memory module, the network connection unit, and the central processing module:
• select one of the computing device operating system or the database operating system to manage one or more of a given task, operation, function, and process of the first computing node.
