Control device, disk device, control method, and storage medium

A disk device having a recording area, the disk device comprising:

• a disk;
• a head capable of reading data recorded on the disk and writing data to the disk;
• and
• a control device,
• wherein the control device includes a controller,
• wherein the recording area has a first recording area including a plurality of disk sectors,
• wherein the controller is configured to be able to execute a formatting process for allocating a plurality of logical block addresses to the plurality of disk sectors included in the first recording area in sequential order, and
• wherein the formatting process includes dividing the first recording area into a plurality of small segments, each including two or more of the disk sectors;
• and
• performing a segment formatting process for each of the small segments in sequential order, the segment formatting process including a write process for writing the logical block addresses to the disk sectors within each of the small segments in sequential order and a read process for reading the logical block addresses written to the disk sectors in the write process in sequential order.

A control method for use in a disk device having a recording area, the control method comprising:

• a formatting process for allocating a plurality of logical block addresses to a plurality of disk sectors included in a first recording area within the recording area in sequential order,
• wherein the formatting process includes
• dividing the first recording area into a plurality of small segments, each including two or more of the disk sectors;
• and
• performing a segment formatting process for each of the small segments in sequential order, the segment formatting process including a write process for writing the logical block addresses to the disk sectors within each of the small segments in sequential order and a read process for reading the logical block addresses written to the disk sectors in the write process in sequential order.

A non-transitory storage medium storing a software program capable of being executed by a computer,

• wherein the computer executes a control method for use in a disk device having a recording area if the software program is executed,
• wherein the control method includes a formatting process for allocating a plurality of logical block addresses to a plurality of disk sectors included in a first recording area within the recording area in sequential order, and
• wherein the formatting process includes
• dividing the first recording area into a plurality of small segments, each including two or more of the disk sectors;
• and
• performing a segment formatting process for each of the small segments in sequential order, the segment formatting process including a write process for writing the logical block addresses to the disk sectors within each of the small segments in sequential order and a read process for reading the logical block addresses written to the disk sectors in the write process in sequential order.
