Abstract
A control device for controlling an industrial process in a Distributed Control System (DCS), comprising at least one CPU having an execution environment; a runtime environment configured to receive control logic provided in an intermediate binary code and to execute the control logic, and an input/output interface configured for exchanging signals between the executed control logic and the industrial process.
Claims13
A control device for controlling an industrial process in a Distributed Control System (DCS), comprising:
- at least one CPU having an execution environment;
- a runtime environment configured to receive control logic provided in an intermediate binary code and to execute said control logic;
- and
- an input/output interface configured for exchanging signals between the executed control logic and the industrial process.
A computer-implemented method for executing control logic on a control device, the method comprising:
- providing the control device for controlling an industrial process in a Distributed Control System (DCS), the control device comprising at least one CPU having an execution environment, a runtime environment configured to receive control logic provided in an intermediate binary code and to execute said control logic, and an input/output interface configured for exchanging signals between the executed control logic and the industrial process;
- obtaining a source code of the control logic;
- compiling the source code into a platform-independent, executable binary code;
- and
- executing the compiled control logic on the control device.
