Abstract

A waveguide for the analysis of biological samples including a plasmonic sensor presenting a binding surface configured to receive and retain at least one kind of recognition elements configured to bind selectively to a respective marker of the biological sample and a cladding surrounding the plasmonic sensor and defining a channel for the flowing the biological sample over the plasmonic sensor. The waveguide further including at least one between a first coating layer coupled to the binding surface and configured to attract the recognition elements and a second coating layer coupled to the cladding and configured to repel the recognition element.
