Drill rig with detachable, modular frame

Abstract

This document describes apparatuses and methods for deploying a drill rig with a detachable frame. For example, an apparatus to support a portable drilling system includes a detachable frame being separable into at least two sections, each of the sections having a reduced size compared to an assembled frame, the sections being at least one of maneuverable and transportable into an opening that may not accommodate the assembled frame. At least one mast unit mounting plate is one of secured to and securable to at one of the sections, the at least one mounting plate configured to be attachable to a mast unit supporting a drilling apparatus. The at least two sections are attachable to each other, and the at least one mast unit mounting plate attachably receives the mast unit to form a portable drilling system.
