Method for determining a batch blanket top surface level at a cold top electric glass furnace

A method for determining a batch blanket top surface level at a cold top electric glass furnace, the method comprising:

• providing a measurement setting having a measuring position in relation to a surface of measurement, wherein the measuring position is assigned to a predetermined reference point of the cold top electric glass furnace and the surface of measurement is assigned to a batch blanket top surface situated in the cold top electric glass furnace on a glass melt, wherein the batch blanket top surface level is subject to level variations;
• determining, during a predetermined measure-window time span, distance values indicative of a distance between the measuring position and the batch blanket top surface;
• determining a characteristic distance value indicative of a central tendency of the distance values determined during at least a fraction of the measure-window time span;
• providing the characteristic distance value as a batch blanket top surface level.
