Finished workpieces transport method and installation

A method of transporting workpieces from a first transport device to a destination station, the method comprising:

• sequentially receiving on a continuously moving surface of the first transport device the workpieces so that the workpieces are arranged in a row, the workpieces being transported on the moving surface in a transport direction away from an output of a station of origin, the row of workpieces including at least a first workpiece arranged furthest from the output of the station of origin in the transport direction and second workpiece arranged upstream the first workpiece;
• lifting from the moving surface of the first transport device the first and second workpieces using a second transport device as the first and second workpieces are being moved in the transport direction, the second transport device including a holding assembly configured to be arranged above the moving surface of the first transport device during the lifting of the first and second workpieces, the holding assembly including a plurality of holding devices facing the moving surface and including at least first and second spaced-apart holding devices with the first holding device being arranged downstream the second holding device with respect to the transport direction, the lifting of the first and second workpieces from the moving surface including sequentially actuating the first and second holding devices to cause the first holding device to pick up the first workpiece and thereafter to cause the second holding device to pick up the second workpiece;
• simultaneously transferring the at least first and second workpieces to a third transport device;
• and
• simultaneously transporting the at least first and second workpieces to the destination station using the third transport station.
