The present disclosure provides a composite material comprising a shell fabric, an insulation layer, and a liner fabric. The shell fabric forms an exterior layer and may have stretch properties, a durable water repellent treatment, and a selected air permeability. The insulation layer includes a padding material and a nonwoven material, where the nonwoven material is adhered to the padding material and provides stretch and recovery properties. In some constructions, the nonwoven material is oriented toward the shell fabric. In alternative constructions, the nonwoven material is oriented toward the liner fabric. The liner fabric forms an innermost layer and may have stretch properties and air permeability selected for breathability and durability. The composite material may provide moisture-vapor transfer, low evaporative resistance, and favorable packability while maintaining insulation properties.
