A method is described for making a piece of jewellery with metal coils in side-to-side contact with each other comprising the steps consisting of: feeding a metal wire onto a free end of a flat tip having a longitudinal axis; winding said metal wire around said free end of said flat tip so as to create a spiral portion with a number of coils laterally adjacent to each other; compacting said adjacent spirals so as to obtain a spiral portion with the spirals in lateral contact with each other; advancing along said longitudinal axis said spiral portion beyond said free end of said flat tip. The present invention describes a machine for making a piece of jewellery with metal coils in lateral contact with each other and a piece of jewellery having flat metal coils in lateral contact with each other obtained by the method according to the present invention.
