Abstract
Embodiments of the present invention include a method for managing temperature and humidity levels within a tape library utilizing a variable speed air conditioning unit. The method includes receiving environmental values for an internal environment of an enclosure of a tape library. The method further includes determining the environmental values are approaching a target temperature for the enclosure of the tape library. The method further includes reducing or increasing an original output of a compressor and a fan speed of a variable speed air conditioning unit of the tape library to a new output.
Claims25
A method comprising:
- receiving environmental values for an internal environment of an enclosure of a tape library;
- determining the environmental values are approaching a target temperature for the enclosure of the tape library;
- and
- reducing an original output of a compressor and a fan speed of a variable speed air conditioning unit of the tape library to a new output.
A computer program product comprising:
- one or more computer readable storage media;
- program instructions, stored on at least one of the one or more computer readable storage media, to receive environmental values for an internal environment of an enclosure of a tape library;
- program instructions, stored on at least one of the one or more computer readable storage media, to determine the environmental values are approaching a target temperature for the enclosure of the tape library;
- and
- program instructions, stored on at least one of the one or more computer readable storage media, to reduce an original output of a compressor and a fan speed of a variable speed air conditioning unit of the tape library to a new output.
A computer system comprising:
- one or more processors, one or more computer readable memories and one or more computer readable storage media;
- program instructions, stored on at least one of the one or more computer readable storage media for execution by at least one of the one or more processors via at least one of the one or more computer readable memories, to receive environmental values for an internal environment of an enclosure of a tape library;
- program instructions, stored on at least one of the one or more computer readable storage media for execution by at least one of the one or more processors via at least one of the one or more computer readable memories, to determine the environmental values are approaching a target temperature for the enclosure of the tape library;
- and
- program instructions, stored on at least one of the one or more computer readable storage media for execution by at least one of the one or more processors via at least one of the one or more computer readable memories, to reduce an original output of a compressor and a fan speed of a variable speed air conditioning unit of the tape library to a new output.
A method comprising:
- receiving environmental values for an internal environment of an enclosure of a tape library;
- determining the environmental values are exceeding a target temperature for the enclosure of the tape library;
- and
- increasing an original output of a compressor and a fan speed of a variable speed air conditioning unit of the tape library to a new output.
