Cross-component prediction

A method of video decoding, comprising:

• receiving a video bitstream comprising coded information of a current block;
• obtaining pixel values in a template area adjacent to the current block;
• adjusting the pixel values in the template area according to an offset value to obtain adjusted pixel values;
• constructing a cross-component prediction model for the current block based on the adjusted pixel values, model parameters of the cross-component prediction model being calculated based on division operations with numerators being left shifted a fixed number of bits;
• and
• generating at least a chrominance component value of a pixel in the current block according to the cross-component prediction model and reconstructed luminance component values of one or more pixels associated with the pixel in the current block.

A method of video encoding, comprising:

• obtaining pixel values in a template area adjacent to a current block;
• adjusting the pixel values in the template area according to an offset value to obtain adjusted pixel values;
• constructing a cross-component prediction model for the current block based on the adjusted pixel values, model parameters of the cross-component prediction model being calculated based on division operations with numerators being left shifted a fixed number of bits;
• generating at least a chrominance component value of a pixel in the current block according to the cross-component prediction model and reconstructed luminance component values of one or more pixels associated with the pixel in the current block;
• and
• encoding the current block into coded information in a video bitstream based on at least the chrominance component value of the pixel in the current block.
