A method and an electronic device are provided. The method includes a display, a communication module, memory, including one or more storage media, storing instructions, and at least one processor communicatively coupled to the display, the communication module, and the memory, wherein the instructions, when executed by the at least one processor individually or collectively, cause the electronic device to receive a first notification through the communication module and display the first notification, identify a second notification capable of being grouped with the first notification, transmit the first notification and the second notification to a server through the communication module, acquire, from the server, a summary notification generated based on the first notification and the second notification, and display the generated summary notification on the display.
