Providing voice and data failover via a communication stream

A voice and data communications failover infrastructure comprising:

• a first data stream carrying a first combination of failover voice communications and failover data communications;
• a second data stream carrying a second combination of failover voice communications and failover data communications;
• a dual WAN router that receives the first data stream and the second data stream, the dual WAN router configured to parse failover voice communications and failover data communications within the first data stream and the second data stream;
• a first data path connected to the dual WAN router configured to carry parsed failover voice communications of the first data stream and the second data stream to at least one voice communication gateway;
• and
• a second data path connected to the dual WAN router configured to carry parsed failover data communications of the first data stream and the second data stream to at least one data access point.

A method for providing failover voice and data communications comprising:

• in response to a primary service disruption that activates a communication failover plan, receiving a communication stream comprising a combination of failover voice communications and failover data communications;
• separating, by a data receiver that receives the communication stream, the failover voice communications from the failover data communications;
• transmitting, by the data receiver, the failover voice communications of the communication stream along a first data path to at least one voice communication gateway;
• and
• transmitting, by the data receiver, the failover data communications of the communication stream along a second data path to at least one data access point.
