Abstract

[Problem] The purpose of the present invention is to realize a dielectric rod antenna and a dielectric rod that are capable of relatively reducing transmission line loss, increasing gain, and handling beam scanning in an array antenna of a millimeter wave band or above. [Solution] This dielectric rod is mounted to an external antenna and comprises a plurality of dielectric elements. The dielectric elements are arranged so that one or more dielectric elements correspond to each antenna element included in the external antenna. The dielectric elements each have a base part, a distal-end part, and a body part connecting the base part and the distal-end part. The base parts are arranged in a lattice shape. The body parts each have a shape extending substantially linearly from the base parts toward the distal-end parts. Each of the body parts is arranged so as to mutually separate from the base part toward the distal-end part.
