Abstract
An example system for minimizing damage to an automated teller machine can include: the automated teller machine; and a base supporting the automated teller machine, the base having a tipping mechanism configured to enable controlled movement of the automated teller machine; wherein the base is configured to be installed within an opening to allow the base of the automated teller machine to move relative to the opening to execute the controlled movement; and wherein the controlled movement is a tipping of the automated teller machine.
Claims20
A base assembly for an automated teller machine, comprising:
- a foundation configured to support the automated teller machine;
- and
- a tipping mechanism incorporated into the foundation and configured to enable controlled tipping of the automated teller machine in response to an applied external force, the controlled tipping configured to cause a theft implement to disengage from the automated teller machine;
- wherein the foundation is configured to maintain structural integrity during the controlled tipping to enable restoration of the automated teller machine to an upright position without requiring replacement of the foundation.
A method for minimizing damage to an automated teller machine, comprising:
- supporting the automated teller machine with a foundation;
- and
- enabling, by a tipping mechanism incorporated into the foundation, controlled tipping of the automated teller machine in response to an applied external force, the controlled tipping causing a theft implement to disengage from the automated teller machine;
- wherein the foundation maintains structural integrity during the controlled tipping to enable restoration of the automated teller machine to an upright position without requiring replacement of the foundation.
