Digital Verification of Users Based On Real-time Video Stream

A computer-readable, non-transient memory including instructions that when executed by a computer system, cause the computer system to perform operations including:

• requesting a live audio/video (A/V) stream with a user in response to a request from the user;
• receiving, from a camera coupled to a user device of the user, the live A/V stream;
• determining that observed liveliness of the user in the live A/V stream satisfies a liveliness threshold;
• based on satisfying the liveliness threshold, correlating, while the user answers questions, facial features and movements of the user to audio of the user’s answers to establish validity of the answers;
• and
• using the established validity to determine whether to authorize the user.

A system comprising:

• a processor circuit;
• a memory circuit including instructions that when executed by the processor circuit, cause the system to perform operations including:
• receiving, from a user, a request to create a new account for an online system associated with the system;
• initiating, as part of an authorization to create the new account, an audio/video (A/V) stream with the user;
• determining, based on the user’s movements in the A/V stream, a liveliness score indicative of a probability that the user in the A/V stream is a live human;
• based on determining that the liveliness score satisfies a threshold value, correlating images of facial features and movements of the user to audio of answers provided by the user;
• establishing, based on the correlation, validity of the answers provided by the user;
• and
• using the established validity to determine whether to authorize the new account.
