Abstract

A printing system includes a printer to print image data to output a printed material; an inspection apparatus including a reader to read the printed material output from the printer to acquire an inspection target image; and circuitry configured to detect defects, according to multiple defect detection levels, from the inspection target image on the printed material based on the inspection target image and a master image to be compared with the inspection target image; determine, for each of the defects, one of the multiple defect detection levels; and display, on the inspection target image, a mark indicating a position of each of the defects in the inspection target image on the printed material and having a color changed according to the one of the multiple defect detection levels determined.
