Interpreting Mold Test Results for HVAC Filters

A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:

• detecting, by a pressure sensor, changes in ambient pressure within an indoor environment of a structure during an installation period of a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) filter within an HVAC system, the changes indicating activation of the HVAC system;
• estimating air volume processed by the HVAC filter during the installation period based on durations of the changes in the ambient pressure;
• predicting a remaining filter life by estimating loading of the HVAC filter based on the air volume;
• and
• generating, for communication to a client device, a replacement recommendation for the HVAC filter based on the remaining filter life.

A system comprising:

• one or more processors;
• and
• a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the system to:
• receive results of one or more laboratory mold tests conducted on a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) filter previously installed in an HVAC system of a structure;
• receive air quality readings from an air quality monitoring device during an installation period of the HVAC filter, the air quality readings including readings of pressure and at least one additional air quality parameter, the readings of pressure detected by a pressure sensor partially enclosed within a housing of a power supply device that supplies power to the air quality monitoring device via a wired connection;
• prompt a machine learning model to generate a mold risk assessment by interpreting the results based on the air quality readings;
• and
• communicate at least a portion of the mold risk assessment to a client device for output in a user interface.
