Abstract

An air conditioner includes a blowing fan, a housing to accommodate the blowing fan, the housing including a first surface, a second surface, a third surface, a fourth surface, an intake port formed on the first surface, the second surface, the third surface, and the fourth surface, and an electrostatic precipitator accommodated in the housing. The electrostatic precipitator includes a dust collecting electrode configured to capture aerosols from air introduced into the housing by the blowing fan, a discharging electrode configured to generate ions toward the intake port and positioned upstream of the dust collecting electrode, an electric field induction electrode grounded to form an electric field with the discharging electrode and positioned upstream of the discharging electrode, and a grounding electrode positioned downstream of the discharging electrode and upstream of the dust collecting electrode so that the ions are attached thereto.

Dependent claims

An air conditioner comprising:

a blowing fan;
a housing configured to accommodate the blowing fan which is configured to introduce air into the housing, the housing comprising:
a first surface;
a second surface opposite the first surface;
a third surface between the first surface and the second surface;
a fourth surface opposite the third surface between the first surface and the second surface;
and
a plurality of intake ports formed on each of the first surface, the second surface, the third surface, and the fourth surface;
and
an electrostatic precipitator accommodated in the housing,
wherein the electrostatic precipitator comprises:
a dust collecting electrode configured to capture aerosols from the air introduced into the housing by the blowing fan;
a discharging electrode configured to generate ions toward the plurality of intake ports, the discharging electrode positioned upstream of the dust collecting electrode;
an electric field induction electrode grounded to form an electric field with the discharging electrode, the electric field induction electrode positioned upstream of the discharging electrode;
and
a grounding electrode positioned downstream of the discharging electrode, the grounding electrode positioned upstream of the dust collecting electrode so that the ions are attached thereto.
