A vehicle control apparatus including (a) a clutch controller configured to place a wet multi-plate friction clutch into a slip state, when a vehicle starts running or runs at a small running speed, (b) a state determiner configured to determine whether a running road is a flat road or an uphill road, depending on whether or not a road gradient is smaller than a predetermined gradient value, and (c) a pump controller configured to control a pump rotational speed of an electric fluid pump for supplying a fluid for lubricating the friction clutch. When the running road is determined to be the flat road, the pump controller sets the pump rotational speed to a flat-road rotational speed. When the running road is determined to be the uphill road, the pump controller sets the pump rotational speed to an uphill-road rotational speed that is larger than the flat-road rotational speed.
A control apparatus for a vehicle which is to run on a running road and which includes (i) a drive wheel, (ii) a power source, (iii) a wet multi-plate friction clutch provided in a power transmission path between the power source and the drive wheel and (iv) an electric fluid pump that is to be driven at a pump rotational speed so as to supply a fluid for lubricating the friction clutch,
