Abstract

Various embodiments are directed to a system for generating power. A system for generating power includes a power generation unit. The power generation unit includes an internal combustion engine, a gearbox operably coupled to the internal combustion engine with the gearbox including a reduction gearbox that has a reduction ratio ranging from 1.1:1 to 5:1, and a generator connected to the gearbox with the generator providing power to one or more output devices. The power generation unit also includes a computing device for controlling the power generation unit. The computing device controls the power generation unit based on one or more characteristics relating to the power generation unit.
