Abstract

A leaf element for a vehicle has an outer handle which can be gripped by a person using their hand and which can be moved relative to a base body of the leaf element from a rest position into at least one actuated position, wherein by moving the outer handle from the rest position into the actuated position, a lock can be mechanically unlocked, by which lock, the leaf element that can be movably arranged on the structure of the vehicle between a closed position and at least one open position, is to be secured in the closed position. A securing device is provided which has an electrically operatable actuator that can be electrically operated as a result of a detection of an application of force to the vehicle due to an accident. The securing device can be switched from a blocking state, which secures the outer handle in the rest position, into a release state, which releases a movement of the outer handle from the rest position into the actuated position, via the actuator.
