Abstract
The present invention relates to a process for the production of carbon black in an entrained flow reactor by using particulate carbon-containing feedstock.
Claims15
A method for producing carbon black from a particulate carbon-containing feedstock in entrained flow reactor having a flow passage along a central longitudinal axis of the reactor, comprising:
- (a) providing a hot gas flow,
- (b) providing a particulate carbon-containing feedstock, and
- (c) injecting the particulate carbon-containing feedstock in the hot gas flow to form carbon black,
- wherein the hot gas flow has a temperature of at least 800° C.
Use of a particulate carbon-containing feedstock for the manufacturing of carbon black in an entrained flow reactor.
A method to adjust the position of the quench in an entrained flow reactor for the production of carbon black from a particulate carbon-containing feedstock, comprising:
- I) injecting a particulate carbon-containing feedstock in a hot gas flow of an entrained flow reactor, wherein the hot gas flow has a temperature of at least 800° C.,
- II) quenching the hot gas flow comprising the produced carbon black,
- II) measuring the transmittance of the produced carbon black,
- III) adjusting the position of the quench in the entrained flow reactor until the transmittance of the produced carbon black is at least 20%, wherein the transmittance at 425 nm in toluene is measured according to ASTM D 1618-18 against toluene.
