Assembly providing gravity fed or pump fed curvilinear motion for polymer release and mixing, including centrally mounting multi-outlet nozzle, overflow rim discharge system, and method for passive stormwater treatment using controlled rotational flow

A method for treating stormwater using gravity fed curvilinear motion for polymer release and mixing, comprising the steps of:

• directing stormwater into a reservoir constructed to promote curvilinear motion of the stormwater;
• positioning a plurality of polymer forms within the reservoir such that the curvilinear motion causes disintegration of the plurality of polymer forms into the stormwater;
• introducing the stormwater into the reservoir using a nozzle, the nozzle including a plurality outlet channels configured to impart rotational motion to the stormwater;
• allowing the stormwater to rise within the reservoir until flowing over an overflow brim positioned at an upper edge of the reservoir;
• receiving the overflowed stormwater in a secondary collection bowl positioned below the reservoir;
• and
• wherein the rotational motion produced within the reservoir increases friction between the stormwater and the plurality of polymer forms to improve polymer dissolution.

A method for treating stormwater using pump fed curvilinear motion for polymer release and mixing, comprising the steps of:

• pumping stormwater into a reservoir;
• introducing the pumped stormwater into the reservoir in a manner that induces rotational flow of the stormwater within the reservoir, the rotational flow producing curvilinear motion of the stormwater;
• positioning a plurality of polymer forms within the reservoir such that the curvilinear motion causes disintegration of the plurality of polymer forms into the stormwater;
• maintaining interaction between the rotating stormwater and the plurality of polymer forms for a residence time sufficient to increase agglomeration of suspended particles within the stormwater;
• and
• discharging stormwater from the reservoir after promoting agglomeration of suspended particles within the stormwater.
