Abstract
A railcar drawbar assembly having first and second axially spaced plates which are axially aligned relative to each other. At least the first plate has a plurality of axially extended and distantly spaced projections extending toward the second plate. A spring assembly is disposed between the first and second plates for urging the plates in opposed axial directions from each other. The drawbar assembly further includes a series of assembly bolts passing through the first and second plates and the projections for maintaining the plates and spring assembly in assembled relation relative to each other.
Claims26
A railcar drawbar assembly, comprising:
- first and second axially spaced plates which are axially aligned and spaced relative to each other, with at least said first plate having a plurality of axially extended and distantly spaced projections axially extending toward said second plate;
- a spring assembly disposed between said first and second plates for urging said plates in opposed axial directions;
- a series of assembly bolts passing through said first plate and said projections for maintaining said plates and spring assembly in assembled relation relative to each other and for guiding said plates relative to each other during operation of said railcar drawbar assembly.
A railcar drawbar assembly, comprising:
- first and second axially spaced plates which are axially aligned relative to each other, with each plate having a plurality of axially aligned and distantly spaced projections extending toward each other;
- a spring assembly disposed between said first and second plates for urging said plates in opposed axial directions;
- a series of assembly bolts passing through said plates and projections for maintaining said plates and spring assembly in assembled relation relative to each other.
A railcar drawbar assembly, comprising:
- first and second axially spaced plates which are axially aligned and axially spaced relative to each other, with each plate having a generally rectangular configuration, in plan, and with projections extending from a corner of each plate and toward each other so as to limit the compression of said drawbar assembly;
- a spring assembly disposed between said first and second plates for urging said plates in opposed axial directions;
- four assembly bolts passing through said plates and projections for guiding and maintaining said plates and spring assembly in assembled relation relative to each other.
A drawbar assembly for a railcar having a centersill configured to house a yoke, with said yoke having a back wall configured to engage said drawbar assembly and which is joined to top and bottom walls extending axially outward from said back wall, with said drawbar assembly being configured to slide within said yoke, and with said centersill having stops for limiting travel of said drawbar assembly relative to said yoke;
- with said drawbar assembly comprising:
- first and second axially spaced plates which are axially aligned and spaced relative to each other, with each plate having a plurality of axially aligned and distantly spaced projections axially extending toward each other;
- a spring assembly disposed between said first and second plates for urging said plates in opposed axial directions;
- a series of assembly bolts passing through said plates and projections for maintaining said plates and spring assembly in assembled relation relative to each other;
- and
- wherein at least one of said first and second plates are configured to engage with one of said stops on said centersill to limit the movement of said drawbar assembly relative to said yoke.
