Method of manufacturing panels and panels manufactured according to same

A method of manufacturing an acoustic ceiling panel comprising:

• a) attaching a second major surface of a filled scrim to a first major surface of a rigid acoustic panel body to form a panel subassembly, the rigid acoustic panel body comprising a second major surface opposite the first major surface of the rigid acoustic panel body and an edge portion extending between the first and second major surfaces of the rigid acoustic panel body;
• b) after step a), inkjet printing a multi-colored image on a first major surface of the filled scrim to form a printed layer that conceals the first major surface of the filled scrim;
• and
• c) after step b), spraying a high solids paint coating composition onto the edge portion of the rigid acoustic panel body while inhibiting deposition of the high solids paint coating composition on the printed layer.
