Handheld device for robotic training data collection

A system for robotic training data collection comprising:

• a handheld device comprising:
• an end effector configured to grasp objects;
• a first squeeze lever and a second squeeze lever each mechanically coupled to the end effector and configured such that squeezing the first squeeze lever and the second squeeze lever together and apart moves the end effector between an open and a closed position;
• and
• a sensor module coupled to the end effector, the sensor module comprising one or more sensors configured to collect the robotic training data;
• and
• a computing system configured to:
• receive the training data from the handheld device;
• process the training data to generate processed training data;
• and
• train an artificial intelligence model using the processed training data.

A method for collecting robotic training data comprising:

• operating a handheld device comprising a pair of squeeze levers mechanically coupled to an end effector;
• squeezing the squeeze levers together and apart to actuate the end effector to grasp one or more objects;
• collecting training data using one or more sensors coupled to the handheld device;
• transmitting the training data to a computing system;
• and
• processing the training data to produce processed training data suitable for training a robotic control model.
