A uterine hemorrhage controlling device includes a suction tip having a plurality of tip openings connected to a distal end of an elongated shaft. A seating element is connected to the shaft at a location proximal to the suction tip. The seating element extends radially from the elongated shaft and comprises a flexible or inflatable portion configured to seat the device within the vagina to facilitate the creation of a negative pressure within the uterine cavity. The suction tip is positioned inside the uterine cavity and the proximal end of the elongated shaft is connected to a source of negative pressure. The negative pressure is delivered from outside the vagina through a lumen in the shaft to a lumen in the suction tip and then through the tip openings to apply a negative pressure to the interior of the uterine cavity to reduce uterine hemorrhaging.
