Abstract
A method for defogging an endoscope is provided. With the endoscope positioned outside of a body cavity, the distal window of the endoscope is heated with light from at least one light source connected to the endoscope until the distal window reaches a predetermined temperature. Upon the distal window reaching the predetermined temperature, the endoscope is inserted into a surgical cavity and the endoscope and the at least one light source are used to image within the surgical cavity.

A method for defogging an endoscope, comprising:
- with the endoscope positioned outside of a body cavity, heating a distal window of the endoscope with light from at least one light source connected to the endoscope until the distal window reaches a predetermined temperature;
- and
- upon the distal window reaching the predetermined temperature, inserting the endoscope into a surgical cavity and imaging within the surgical cavity via the endoscope and the at least one light source.
An endoscopic imaging system comprising:
- an endoscope comprising a distal window that is configured to absorb light generated by at least one light source to heat the distal window;
- and
- a cap configured to removably cover the distal window while the distal window is heated by the light generated by the at least one light source.
A device for endoscope defogging, comprising:
- a receiving portion configured to receive a distal end of an endoscope;
- and
- at least one temperature sensor configured to measure a temperature of a distal window of the endoscope when the distal end of the endoscope is inserted into the receiving portion of the device.
