The present application provides a method for descaling a beverage machine and a beverage machine, relating to the field of beverage preparation technology. A specific implementation solution is: obtaining water quality parameters of the water inside a beverage machine, the water quality parameters are automatically obtained; determining a remaining water usage amount based on the water quality parameters and preset descaling rules, wherein the preset descaling rules indicate at least one of the following two mapping relationships: a mapping relationship between multiple water quality parameters and multiple remaining water usage amounts, and a mapping relationship between multiple water quality change conditions and multiple remaining water usage amount determination manners; and executing a descaling operation when the remaining water usage amount reaches zero.
