Abstract
A hair styling apparatus having a barrel and a handle, wherein the barrel has a bend or wave along its length. A method of styling hair includes wrapping a section of hair around a hair styling apparatus barrel in a first direction and then wrapping the section of hair around the hair styling apparatus barrel in a second direction.
Claims27
A hair styling apparatus, comprising:
- a barrel having a circular or elliptical cross-sectional shape along its length, and having an interior space;
- and
- a heating element disposed in the interior space;
- wherein the barrel has at least one wave along its length, the at least one wave including a first wave in a first direction, a second wave in a second direction, and a third wave in the first direction, the first direction and second direction being transverse to or perpendicular to a longitudinal axis, the first direction being opposite to the second direction.

The hair styling apparatus according to claim 19, wherein the first wave has a first radius, the second wave has a second radius, and the third wave has a third radius, at least the first radius differing in size from the second radius and the third radius.
A method of styling hair, comprising:
- providing a hair styling apparatus having a barrel portion and at least one wave along a length of the barrel portion, the at least one wave including a first wave in a first direction, a second wave in a second direction, and a third wave in the first direction, the first direction and second direction being transverse to or perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the barrel portion, the first direction being opposite to the second direction, and wherein the barrel portion has a circular or elliptical cross-sectional shape along its length;
- selecting a section of hair;
- wrapping the section of hair around the barrel portion in a first direction;
- and
- wrapping the section of hair around the barrel portion in a second direction.
A hair styling apparatus, comprising:
- a barrel having having a circular or elliptical cross-sectional shape along its length and having an interior space;
- a heating element disposed in the interior space;
- and
- a handle portion attached to a first end of the barrel;
- wherein the barrel has at least one wave along its length, the at least one wave including a first wave in a first direction, a second wave in a second direction, and a third wave in the first direction, the first direction and the second direction being transverse to or perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, the first direction being opposite to the second direction.
