Impingement cooling devices include distributor plates having a plurality of injection ports and impingement target plates including a plurality of extraction ports. The plurality of injection ports accelerate a cooling fluid. The impingement target plate is arranged adjacent the distributor plate such that the accelerated cooling fluid is directed onto the impingement target plate and thereafter through the extraction ports. In some examples, an upstream side of the impingement target plate and/or at least one extraction port is provided with a plurality of protrusions configured to increase a conductive surface area of the upstream side of the impingement target plate and/or a conductive surface area within the at least one extraction port. In some examples, a first distributor plate is non-parallel with a second distributor plate and/or a first impingement target plate is non-parallel with a second impingement target plate.
