An image information system includes a terminal that transmits, to equipment in a local area network, an image display request via an image transfer service provided on an Internet, a tunneling server that establishes a tunnel connection between the local area network and the Internet, and an image generation terminal that is provided in the local area network, converts the image display request received from the terminal via the image transfer service into a request in accordance with a predetermined communication protocol and transmits the request to the equipment, and, on one hand, generates image information based on a response in accordance with the communication protocol received from the equipment and transmits the image information to the terminal via the image transfer service.
