Electrical connector and connector assembly with improved shielding configurations

A connector assembly, comprising:

• an electrical connector comprising:
• a mounting frame, the mounting frame defining a mounting space;
• and
• a shielding module, the shielding module being at least partially received in the mounting space;
• the shielding module comprising a shielding shell assembly and a plurality of terminal modules received in the shielding shell assembly;
• the shielding shell assembly comprising a shielding side plate and a plurality of shielding pieces cooperating with the shielding side plate;
• the shielding side plate comprising a plate body portion;
• each shielding piece comprising a first surrounding wall, a second surrounding wall disposed opposite to the first surrounding wall, and a third surrounding wall connected between the first surrounding wall and the second surrounding wall;
• the plate body portion, the first surrounding wall, the second surrounding wall, and the third surrounding wall together forming a shielding cavity in which the terminal module is at least partially received;
• wherein the shielding side plate is provided with a first fastening elastic arm, and an end of the first fastening elastic arm is configured to lock with the mounting frame;
• and
• a mating connector, the mating connector being provided with a metal shield enclosure;
• wherein the metal shield enclosure is configured to be at least partially received in the shielding cavity of the electrical connector.
