Abstract

Provided is an apparatus which controls a transmissive and transparent reconfigurable intelligent surface in a wireless communication system. The apparatus includes a transparent substrate, a metal mesh pattern formed in the form of a grid on the transparent substrate, a microstrip electric dipole located in a central portion of the metal mesh pattern and arranged in a first direction, a variable element mounted on a gap of the electric dipole and having an electrical characteristic varied depending on a bias voltage, a microstrip pad for applying the bias voltage to the variable element, and a ladder structure connected with unit cells neighboring in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction. A transmission phase is electronically controlled by varying the electrical characteristic of the variable element.
