Apparatus and method for determining a lacquer coating thickness on electrical sheets

A device for determination of a lacquer coating thickness of a strip in a continuous process, comprising at least:

• a thickness sensor which is arranged crosswise to a conveying direction of the strip and which is based on laser induced fluorescence technology and, in terms of signalling, is connected to a control unit for determination of the lacquer coating thickness of the strip, and
• a temperature sensor for detection of a temperature of the strip provided in an area T in the conveying direction of the strip in front of a measurement area D of the thickness sensor,
• wherein the control unit has a module for temperature compensation of the laser induced fluorescence measurement by means of the thickness sensor with which the temperature sensor is directly or indirectly connected in terms of signalling, for correction of a thickness value on the basis of the measured temperature.
