Temporary sediment retention assembly

A sediment retention system for deterring entry of sediment and debris into an inlet of a storm water drainage system, comprising:

• a frame comprising a first portion having a plurality of openings formed therethrough and a second portion extending outwardly from a lower end of the first portion to a plurality of side edges and having a configuration adapted to substantially fit over and seat upon the inlet;
• and
• a cover comprising an upper portion and a lower portion arranged at a lower end of the upper portion;
• wherein the upper portion is and is configured to substantially cover the first portion of the frame;
• wherein the upper portion comprises a filter material configured to filter sediment particles above a selected size from a water flow entering the inlet;
• wherein the lower cover portion extends outwardly from the upper portion of the cover and is configured to extend over and substantially overlap side edges of the second portion of the frame;
• and
• wherein the lower cover portion comprises filter material configured to filter sediment particles above a selected size from a water flow entering the inlet.
