Stacked backflow preventer

A backflow preventer comprising:

• an inlet;
• an outlet positioned in a stacked configuration with respect to the inlet, the outlet positioned downstream of the inlet with respect to a flow path in which fluid flows from the inlet to the outlet;
• a coupling portion providing fluid communication between the inlet and the outlet;
• a first check valve located between the inlet and the outlet with respect to the flow path, the first check valve including a first valve member movable between a first state in which flow through the first check valve is prevented and a second state in which flow through the first check valve is permitted, the first valve member configured such that the first valve member diverts flow away from the inlet in a backflow condition;
• and
• a second check valve located between the first check valve and the outlet with respect to the flow path.

A backflow preventer comprising:

• an inlet;
• an outlet positioned in a stacked configuration with respect to the inlet, the outlet positioned downstream of the inlet with respect to a flow path in which fluid flows from the inlet to the outlet;
• a coupling portion providing fluid communication between the inlet and the outlet;
• a first check valve located between the inlet and the outlet with respect to the flow path, the first check valve including a first valve member movable between a first state in which flow through the first check valve is prevented and a second state in which flow through the first check valve is permitted;
• a second check valve located between the first check valve and the outlet with respect to the flow path;
• and
• a diverter positioned in the coupling portion and operable to divert flow away from the inlet in a backflow condition.

A backflow preventer comprising:

• an inlet;
• an outlet positioned in a stacked configuration with respect to the inlet, the outlet positioned downstream of the inlet with respect to a flow path in which fluid flows from the inlet to the outlet;
• a coupling portion providing fluid communication between the inlet and the outlet;
• a first check valve located between the inlet and the outlet with respect to the flow path, the first check valve including a first valve member movable between a first state in which flow through the first check valve is prevented and a second state in which flow through the first check valve is permitted;
• a second check valve located between the first check valve and the outlet with respect to the flow path;
• and
• a diverter positioned in the coupling portion and operable to divert flow away from the inlet in a backflow condition, the diverter movable between a first position wherein the diverter engages the first valve member and a second position wherein the diverter is spaced apart from the first valve member.
