Abstract
The present invention relates to Brassica oilseed plants with improved agronomic traits, such as seed retention. More particularly, the invention provides a mutant or modified Brassica oilseed plant or part thereof comprising a heritable mutation in a HAESA (HAE) gene and in a HAESA-LIKE2 (HSL2) gene, wherein the mutant or modified plant is deficient in seed abscission in comparison to a corresponding unmutated or unmodified plant.
Claims25
A mutant or modified Brassica oilseed plant or part thereof comprising a heritable mutation in a HAESA (HAE) gene and in a HAESA-LIKE2 (HSL2) gene, wherein the mutant or modified plant is deficient in seed abscission in comparison to a corresponding unmutated or unmodified plant.
A method for producing a mutant or modified Brassica oilseed plant that is deficient in seed abscission in comparison to a corresponding unmutated or unmodified plant, the method comprising modifying a Brassica oilseed plant or cell to decrease the expression of a HAE gene and an HSL2 gene and/or to decrease the activity of the proteins encoded by said genes in comparison to the expression and/or activity in a corresponding unmutated or unmodified plant.
