Methods for processing plastic-derived oils and waste plastics

A method for processing waste plastic, the method comprising:

• producing a plastic-derived oil stream from the waste plastic;
• passing a portion or all of a plastic-derived oil stream and an atmospheric residue stream to a vacuum distillation unit to produce a plurality of vacuum distillation effluent streams, the vacuum distillation effluent streams comprising a vacuum gas oil stream and a vacuum residue stream;
• upgrading the vacuum residue stream to produce an upgraded vacuum residue stream such that the vacuum residue stream has a greater 50 wt. % boiling point than the upgraded vacuum residue stream;
• passing the vacuum gas oil stream and the upgraded vacuum residue stream to a downstream separation unit and forming a plurality of separation unit effluent streams comprising a fuel oil stream and a raffinate stream, wherein the raffinate stream comprises lube naphtha, kerosene, diesel and lube base oil;
• isomerizing the raffinate stream to produce an isomerized effluent stream;
• wherein:
• the isomerized effluent comprises a hydrocarbon product;
• and
• the hydrocarbon product comprises at least 50 wt. % of hydrocarbons having a boiling point of greater than 180° C.
