Shopping cart, method, and item registration device

A method for registering items on a shopping cart including a scanner, a weight sensor, and a display, the method comprising:

• upon the scanner reading identification information, registering an item associated with the identification information for purchase;
• determining whether a weight of one or more containers for storing one or more items, measured by the weight sensor decreases;
• and
• in response to determining that the weight decreases, determining one or more candidate items corresponding to an amount of the decrease in the weight from among registered items, generating a cancellation screen on the display, the cancellation screen displaying the one or more candidate items in a selectable manner, and upon selection of one of the one or more candidate items through the cancellation screen, cancelling registration of the selected item.

An item registration device attachable to a shopping cart, the item registration device comprising:

• a display;
• a memory that stores a program;
• and
• a processor configured to execute the program to:
• upon receipt of identification information from a scanner provided on the shopping cart, register an item associated with the identification information for purchase,
• acquire measurement data from a weight sensor provided on the shopping cart, and determine whether a weight of one or more containers placed on the shopping cart decreases based on the measurement data, and
• in response to determining that the weight decreases, determine one or more candidate items corresponding to an amount of the decrease in the weight from among registered items, generate a cancellation screen on the display,
• the cancellation screen displaying the one or more candidate items in a selectable manner, and upon selection of one of the one or more candidate items through the cancellation screen, cancel registration of the selected item.
