Nonwoven aggregate and method of making same

A method of making a nonwoven aggregate, comprising the steps of:

• depositing at least a first layer on a mesh deposition belt;
• spinning continuous filaments with a spinning beam and depositing the filaments as a second nonwoven layer on the first layer;
• depositing at least a third nonwoven layer of continuous filaments or at least a second nonwoven lamina of continuous filaments on the second layer, whereby the first layer forms a barrier against penetration by particles or absorption particles with a size greater than 150 μm;
• applying absorption particles to the aggregate before and/or after deposition of the third layer or the second nonwoven lamina such that the absorption particles are embedded between the filaments of the second layer;
• and, before and/or after the depositing the third layer (6) or the second nonwoven lamina
• applying a hydrophilic hydrophilizing agent to the aggregate.

An apparatus for making a nonwoven aggregate the apparatus comprising:

• a spinning beam for spinning endless filaments and depositing the spun endless filaments on a mesh deposition belt to form a nonwoven web, the spinning beam making filaments for at least one first nonwoven layer and depositing same on the mesh belt, the same spinning beam making filaments for at least one second layer or second nonwoven layer that are deposited on the first layer or first nonwoven layer, and the spinning beam or the spinneret openings of the spinning beam being set up such that the filaments of the first layer have a lower mean titer than the filaments of the second layer
• and/or
• the filaments of the first and second layers are crimped multicomponent filaments and the filaments of the second layer have a higher degree of crimp than the filaments of the first layer
• and/or
• the filaments of the first and second layers are multicomponent filaments with a low-melting-point binder component and the binder component content of the filaments of the first layer is higher than the binder component content of the filaments of the second layer,
• filaments for at least a third layer or third nonwoven layer can be produced with the spinning beam and can be deposited on the second layer or the apparatus has a second spinning beam for spinning out filaments for a second nonwoven lamina or an unwinder for unwinding a second nonwoven lamina,
• at least one device for applying and/or injecting absorption particles onto or into the aggregate is downstream of the spinning beam in the machine direction, and
• at least one applicator for applying at least one hydrophilizing agent, in particular a hydrophilic lubricant, to the aggregate is provided downstream of the spinning beam in the machine direction.
