Methods for forming zeolite-y

A method of forming zeolite-Y, the method comprising:

• forming a first zeolite precursor solution comprising an alumina source material, a silica source material, and a solvent;
• aging the first zeolite precursor solution at a temperature from 15° C. to 45° C. for a time period of from 24 hours to 96 hours to form an aged first zeolite precursor solution;
• forming a second zeolite precursor solution comprising the alumina source material, the silica source material, and the solvent, forming a third zeolite precursor solution comprising the aged first zeolite precursor solution and the second zeolite precursor solution, wherein the second zeolite precursor solution is not aged such that the alumina source material, the silica source material, and the solvent in the second zeolite precursor solution are not all in contact with one another for more than 24 hours before being combined with the aged first zeolite precursor solution;
• mixing the third zeolite precursor solution for a time period from 5 minutes to 60 minutes to form a first intermediate mixture;
• adding a surfactant agent to the first intermediate mixture to form a second intermediate mixture;
• mixing the second intermediate mixture for a time period from 5 minutes to 60 minutes to form a third intermediate mixture;
• and
• heating the third intermediate mixture at a temperature from 50° C. to 150° C. for a time period from 80 hours to 160 hours to form the zeolite-Y.
