Systems and methods for predicting energy consumption of a dishwashing appliance

A method for predicting energy consumption of a dishwashing appliance of a system, the dishwashing appliance comprising a cabinet, a tub disposed within the cabinet, and a heating element disposed within the tub, the system further comprising one or more computing devices in operable communication with the dishwashing appliance, the method comprising:

• receiving, at the one or more computing devices, a cycle signal, the cycle signal comprising one or more operational settings for an upcoming operating cycle for the dishwashing appliance;
• determining, at the one or more computing devices, an estimated operating time of the heating element for the upcoming operating cycle with a prediction model;
• and
• updating, at the one or more computing devices, the operational settings for the upcoming operating cycle based on the estimated operating time of the heating element for the upcoming operating cycle.
