Synergistic Compositions Containing Guanidine

Abstract

The present invention relates to a composition, containing (a) guanidine and/or a salt of the non-substituted guanidine, and (b) at least one further component, selected from the group consisting of 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one, 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one, 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one, N-butyl-1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one, N-methyl-1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one, octylisothiazolinone, bronopol, dibromnitrilopropion amide, dibromodicyanobutane, iodpropinyl butylcarbamate, amino-methyl-propanol, amino-ethyl-propanediol, monoethanolamine, ethylhexylglycerine, hexylglycerine, 1,2-pentanediol, 1,2-hexanediol, 1,2-heptanediol, 1,2-octanediol, phenoxyethanol, phenethyl alcohol, phenylpropanol, benzyl alcohol, isopropanol, ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, (1-hydroxy ethylidene)bis-phosphonic acid, sodium pyrithione, zinc pyrithione, o-phenylphenol, sorbic acid, benzoic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid, citric acid and zinc. The invention furthermore relates to technical products which contain the components (a) and (b), and to the use of the compositions for container conserving and the conserving of technical products. The invention also relates to the use of (a) guanidine and/or a salt of the non-substituted guanidine to improve the antimicrobial effectiveness of one or more compounds, selected from the aforementioned group (b).
