A computer-implemented method of controlling operations of a center pivot irrigation system includes receiving, via a controller, a first measurement of an electrical characteristic related to a current total electrical power usage of the irrigation system during an active portion of a first duty cycle of a command signal directed to an end tower of the irrigation system; receiving, via the controller, a second measurement related to a current total electrical power usage of the irrigation system during an inactive portion of the duty cycle of the command signal; calculating, via the controller, a difference between the first measurement and the second measurement; determining, via the controller, whether the difference is below a first predefined threshold; and sending, via the controller, an instruction to disconnect power from the end tower of the center pivot irrigation system if the difference is below the first predefined threshold.
A method of determining if a mechanized irrigation system has stopped moving, the method comprising:
A center pivot irrigation system comprising:
A controller for controlling operations of a center pivot irrigation system in a field having mobile support towers configured to move across the field about a central pivot point, the mobile support towers including a radially outmost mobile support tower having an end motor and one or more inner mobile support towers located radially inward from the radially outmost mobile support tower and having one or more inner motor, the controller comprising:
